The PHI Center hosts the works of FNC EXPLORE

Updated September 29, 2020: The PHI Centre has closed its doors following the latest announcement from the Government of Quebec. The works of FNC EXPLORE will therefore not be presented.

For the 49th edition of the Montral Festival du Nouveau Cinéma, the PHI Centre will be the only physical cultural institution to host the FNC EXPLORE section, presented by HTC Vive’s Viveport. From October 8th to 18th, Montrealers are invited to immerse themselves in high-calibre narrative experiences via a selection of about twenty interactive and immersive virtual reality works.

Among the FNC EXPLORE selection of works, many films have been showcased at Venice VR Expanded that took place at the PHI Centre from September 2nd to 12th. This is an opportunity for those who might’ve missed them to discover these exceptional experiences.

Departure Times: 9:30 am, 11:15 am, 1 pm, 2:45 pm, 4:30 pm, 6:15 pm and 8 pm

Your ticket will give you an hour and a half (1h30) access to the experience, including explanations, seating time as well as viewing.

DESTINATION: PHI

FNC EXPLORE is one of the key events of the DESTINATION: PHI programming, which includes many multidisciplinary initiatives (concerts, screenings, installations, etc.) offered in our physical and virtual creative spaces.

A safe environment for visitors and PHI employees

To ensure a safe experience for everyone, the PHI team has carefully followed the health protocol drawn up by Public Health authorities. Additional measures have been implemented to clean the virtual reality headsets. In addition to being cleaned thoroughly with antibacterial wipes, ultraviolet rays are used to disinfect the headsets between users via the CleanBox sterilization system. The PHI Centre spaces are also equipped with new air filters that feature a high quality similar to that of operating rooms. Everything at the Centre is set up to provide both peace of mind and an enriching experience.
