Because it's 2018, an era where Female representation is very important, the FNC exposes in this article the movies and the events that highlight and bring forward the talent of remarkable women and their contribution to the Festival.
We know that there is still a long way to go until we achieve Gender Equality, and so we try to make our contribution so we get there. We can't throw roses at ourselves, but we can throw roses at them, and participate in a public recognition of their presence to encourage a bigger visibility of these wonderful women.
Discover them and follow the movement by supporting these talented women by going to their movie projections and events.
Rising star, we invited this young greek director to make people discover her tremendous talent by allowing them to meet her. An event consisting of a screening of 4 of her Short Films interspersed with discussions. Not to be missed!

Since 2011, the Festival du nouveau cinema allows different filmmakers to create a short film, without any constraint of style, genre or themes. These Cartes Blanches are then presented at various locations during the festival and give a creative inspiration to the event. This project is possible because of Téléfilm Canada, Cineground and Post-Moderne.
This year, there is parity between the filmmakers: 2 women and 2 men

Almost all of our 2018's Jury is composed of women.
A woman programming coordinator, 5 women programmers for 5 men programmers, not bad!
Even if not all positions are equal, we cannot say that women only work for less important positions at the FNC!
